Hakutan is a beautiful sculptural object with a very definite function. It can be placed anywhere in the home to cleanse the air and is especially handy in the bathroom where it regulates humidity or in the kitchen to adsorb cooking steam and odors.

Hakutan is a section taken from a very large piece of White Charcoal. This is the highest grade of charcoal available with an extremely high carbon content. White Charcoal gets its unlikely name from the manufacturing process it goes through. The raw material is Korean oak and our Hakutans are organically produced and handcrafted in Korea.

To activate, simply remove the plastic cover and place the Hakutan in any room you wish to purify. The lid of the Hakutan wooden box may be used as a tray or the Hakutan can be placed directly onto any kind of surface. Keep the Hakutan free from dust by vacuum cleaning it. Occasionally exposing Hakutan to sunlight allows it to dry out thoroughly and regain its ability to adsorb. Do not use a microwave oven for this purpose. Hakutan is a fragile object, so handle it carefully.

Hakutan remains active indefinitely. We can guarantee it will last a lifetime.
Although it remains active for many years, if you do wish to dispose of it Hakutan makes an excellent fertiliser. Just crush it and mix with potting soil, in order to nourish it and regulate its PH levels.
